Award winners 2007: Etteplan, Proventia Emission Control and Mobile Monday

Internationalisation Awards of the President of the Republic of Finland to Etteplan, Proventia Emission Control and Mobile Monday

Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland, has presented the 2007 Internationalisation Awards to Etteplan Oyj, Proventia Emission Control Oy and the Mobile Monday online community. Today’s award ceremony was the 40th in the history of the prize. The ceremony also marked the second time in the history of the Internationalisation Awards that a community has won the award. The objective of the Internationalisation Awards, which are coordinated by Finpro, is to help businesses to operate in an international environment and to boost their ability to develop and adopt new operating models.

“Finpro’s core mission is to inject the Finnish innovation environment with know-how and trends from the global marketplace. Another key goal is to promote the growth and internationalisation of Finnish businesses. The Internationalisation Award is our way to give recognition to enterprises that have already successfully demonstrated their ability to operate on the international market. These enterprises also act as points of reference and set a great example to others,” says Jorma Turunen, Managing Director of Finpro.

The 2007 awards ceremony doubles as a celebration of the 40-year history of the prize. The Export Award of the President of the Republic of Finland, which preceded the Internationalisation Award, was founded in 1967, and the first companies to win the award were the furniture manufacturer Asko Oy, the consultancy business of Ins.tsto Jaakko Pöyry & Co and the knife factory of J. Marttiinin Puukkotehdas.

Customer-orientated service model paves the way to success

Etteplan Oyj is a global specialist in industrial technology and technical consultancy services. Thanks to its streamlined service concept and determined operating model, Etteplan has managed to grow and increase its international prominence within its continuously developing business sector. Etteplan has more than 50 offices in Finland, Sweden, Italy and China.

“Our strategy is to offer services to internationally operating major corporations in their various local branches around the world. Despite our global market, we have succeeded in staying genuinely close to our customers. Our offices use an internal information network, which allows experts from different fields to contribute to projects regardless of their physical location,” explains Matti Hyytiäinen, President and CEO of Etteplan Oyj.

100-percent international environment business

Proventia Emission Control Oy specialises in developing solutions for the purification of emissions from diesel engines and power plants. The company has successfully networked its strong expertise into a clever service concept for its international clientele. Proventia Emission Control Oy is a good example of a customer-orientated technology business in the environmental sector. Almost 100% of the company’s turnover originates from international projects.

“As environmental regulations are becoming increasingly strict and the problems relating to emissions in big cities are escalating, we have begun to see global demand for our progressive solutions. Our main market areas are Europe and Asia, and we have won contracts worth millions of euros from Hong Kong and Korea, for example. In the future, we expect to see growth on the US market in particular,” says President Jari Lotvonen.

Proventia Emission Control is part of the environmental technology company Proventia Group and it specialises in developing solutions for the purification of emissions from machinery and power plants on the OEM market and various kinds of diesel vehicles on the retrofitting market in big cities.
