Client profile

Normet manufactures equipment and vehicles for underground mining and tunnel construction and construction chemicals. The management of service business and processes of underground operations have become even more important to the company. Normet is a global market leader in its key product segments, especially in mechanized concrete spraying. Normet was established in 1962 in Iisalmi and the internationalization of the company started in 1970s. Today company has production units in Iisalmi and Santiago de Chile. Altogether Normet has 34 offices around the world.
 

Business challenges

Normet needed Finpro’s help especially to develop its service business and strategy. Even though the development work in service business has been done for long, it has been challenging to find the correct emphasis and prioritize things, which should be done first.

Solution

Normet joined Finpro’s Industrial Services project, which aims to development of service business of Finnish manufacturing companies. During the project the service business strategy was sharpened, the building of solutions offering was set up, optional business models were analysed and tools for the sales of services were looked through. The goal was to sharpen both short and long term operation plans towards the service business vision.
 

Benefits

Cooperation with Finpro has supported and strengthened service business operations. The target is to develop onward solutions offer and the sales of process know-how in order to form comprehensive partner relationship with customers. The next emphasis will be the efficient deployment of defined strategy.
