Analyse² is an expert in the retail business and a leading developer of software tools that enable consumer-centric category management in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) retailing. Systems of this type enable retailers to achieve optimal assortment planning and other strategic tasks such as matching actual consumer needs and market trends. The company serves over 50 customers, including top Finnish retailer Kesko and other major concerns including Mars, P&G and Unilever. Analyse² is currently developing its operations in Europe, Russia and South America.

Business challenges

Analyse² was a participant in the Verso program launched by Tekes in cooperation with Finpro in March 2010. Verso’s goal is creating innovative software products for strategically important application areas and customer groups in international markets. During the program, Analyse² decided to expand its presence in Russia in three ways: by establishing a market presence through a local partner; by improving the company’s visibility in the Russian market; and by finding Russian customers.

Solution

During 2010 and 2011, Analyse² participated in four major food industry events in Russia. Supported by a Finpro expert, the CEO of Analyse² presented the company’s analytical solutions at these events, raising its visibility among Russian food and retail industry specialists. Finpro also organized and facilitated meetings between Analyse² and major Russian retail chains.

Benefits

Analyse² was able to locate a reliable Russian partner with an extended network of contacts and detailed knowledge of the country’s operating environment. The Finpro expert assigned to Analyse² handled contacts during partner negotiations. A consulting project with a Russian retail chain was launched in the second half of 2011 and the first comprehensive deals are expected within the next few months. To strengthen its market position, Analyse² has recruited a Russian-speaking employee to handle the company’s business in Russia.
