Fashion takes over Helsinki in May - Finnish fashion export gets a power boost at Lifestyle Finland showroom in Helsinki
Fashion from Finland takes center stage in May when the Fashion in Helsinkievent gathers local and international influencers to explore Finnish fashion. The biggest event focused exclusively on Finnish fashion will take place on 13–20 May 2017 in Helsinki. Fashion in Helsinki gives a fascinating overview of the Finnish fashion scene and the opportunity to network with industry’s key players.
Finland’s largest fashion industry event offers an impressive collection of eye-catching content; shows, seminars, displays and other fashion-related activity. Finpro’s Lifestyle Finland program will connect Finnish fashion brands to key international decision makers during Fashion in Helsinki. The Lifestyle Finland showroom will showcase more than 20 Finnish fashion brands to professionals; international buyers, influencers, and media on Monday 15 May.
“One of our key goals is to connect international buyers and Finnish fashion brands and boost exports. Team Finland’s Lifestyle Finland showroom gives brands an ideal platform to network and gives international buyers and media a snapshot of the latest Finnish fashion”, says Finpro’s Head of Creative industries Irma Patala.

Fashion in Helsinki week is a wonderful opportunity for new fashion brands to build their networks in their hometown”, says CEO Jarkko Kallio from Finnish menswear brand FRENN.
Fashion in Helsinki is a joint initiative by Aalto University, Finpro, Helsinki New, Pre Helsinki, Finnish Textile and Fashion, Tekes and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Highlights from Fashion in Helsinki
On Monday 15 May, Finpro’s Lifestyle Finlandshowroom showcases more than 20 Finnish fashion brands to professionals; international buyers and media arriving, for instance, from Tokyo and London.
On Tuesday 16 May, Helsinki New Fashion Seminar will bringinternational top names from the PR, branding, and communications of the fashion industry to Helsinki. Keynote speakers and panelists include, for instance, Dries van Noten’s Communications Director, Patrick Scallon who has headed Maison Margiela, MSGM’s designer Massimo Giorgetti, the great Spanish prospect Alejandro Palomo, purchasing agent Jesse Hudnutt who has given Opening Ceremony a cult reputation, consultant Mimma Viglezio who has worked at Louis Vuitton, Bvulgari and Gucci Group, and the British Fashion Council’s consultant Barbara Grispini as well as photographer and rising star Coco Capitán.
On Tuesday 16 May, Pre Helsinki “Prenaissance” @ EMMA– Fashion takes part in a dialogue with pieces through installation and performance in an experiential fashion show by top designers. The Pre Helsinki presentation will be held for the fifth time and, this year, it is joined by designers Juslin Maunula, Hanne Jurmu, Ella Boucht and, launching his new brand “Self-Assembly”, Matti Liimatainen who has created an international career working for, for instance, the BOY London and KTZ brands.
On Wednesday 17 May, Aalto University’s Näytös17 will presentthe collection of around twenty students. Aalto University’s show has traditionally gathered international headhunters who recruit the most interesting designers straight from the catwalks.
