Great success for Finland at Salone del Mobile in Milan – biggest design fair in the world
The largest international trade fair dedicated to furniture-design, Salone del Mobile - The Milan Furniture Fair, was organized in April in Milan. The 56th Salone del Mobile had a spectacular turnout this year with about 340 thousand visitors from 163 countries. This year the fair also introduced Euroluce, a special event dedicated to companies producing lighting solutions and products.
As part of Euroluce, Finpro’s Lifestyle Finland program hosted a match making event for 9 Finnish furniture and lighting companies. Finnish brands be & liv, Human Tool, INNO Interior, Nikari, SAAS Instruments, Secto Design, Showroom Finland and Woodnotes were introduced to international journalists, designers, buyers, opinion leaders and lovers of Nordic design, who all explored Finnish products with great interest.
Program Manager Leena Arvonen from Finpro’s Lifestyle Finland was pleased to promote Finnish excellence in furniture, textiles and lighting to international audience. "I am happy and proud to have introduced these Finnish companies to buers and media at our event", Arvonen said.
The event also hosted an important guest of honor, Finland's Ambassador in Rome, Janne Taalas.
The Ambassador, in addition to bringing his personal greetings to Finnish companies, emphasized that Finland’s celebration of 100 years of independence gave particular importance to the conference.
Guests at the event also enjoyed authentic tastes from Finland. Chef Antti Grönroos served an impressive menu prepared with fresh ingredients such as mushrooms, lichens, herbs – collected only hours before in the forests of Finland. The success of the day confirmed that both Finnish food and design are greatly appreciated in the world.
